Nearly every Space company has one secret in common—they utilize 3D printing to build some of their most mission-critical components. Many of today’s rocket engines, satellites, and power generators for the space industry utilize 3D printed parts that improve performance. This session will look at how 3D printing enables new design freedom that allows engineers to focus on optimizing systems for performance, rather than compromising the designs for manufacturability. Attendees will hear the example of Avio, the Italian space company that have successfully utilized 3D printing to optimize new rockets designs. Roberto will also address the economies of scale that will be achieved when next-generation space designs—those that are created on the basis of advanced manufacturing technologies like 3D printing—enter production.
